Here is a thought for you.
Don’t.hold.back. You were not called to give less than all you’ve got within you. Use all of your potential. Every last drop. You can’t save it for later and it won’t run out.
Life is too short, a vapor, a breath.
“I do the very best I know how – the very best I can; and I mean to keep on doing so until the end.”
Abraham Lincoln
“Not holding back” is the same but other side of thinking of “give everything your all.” Everything that we do should be done to 100% excellence that we can put forth. Really applying ourselves! It is not only fulfilling but it blesses other people tremendously as well!
Think about your last experience of customer service at any establishment. For example purposes and because I used to wait tables, let’s use the last time you dined out. How was your waiter/waitress? Were they chipper, uplifting, knowledgeable about their job, diligent to serve you? Or did they have a less than par attitude, didn’t really know a whole lot about the menu, or neglected your table a bit? Think of a scenario you’ve had for both. How did the less than par customer service make you feel? How about the great service?
We each have an opportunity – multiple opportunities, actually, to make others’ days better. I met up with a friend for coffee yesterday and he put it this way – “I want to be a PLUS in someone’s day, not a NEGATIVE.” Well said. What if we each carried that philosophy?
We don’t have to be perfect, but we can work to be better. And when we are better at what we are doing and don’t hold back due to worry of expending all of our energy or other resources, we will find that the energy and other resources do come back to us, and more. It is a principle. Sow, reap. Sow corn, reap corn. Sow positivity, reap positivity. Sow excellence, reap excellence.
