When it gets tough, what do you do? What is your reaction?

Do you give in? “well, there’s resistance here .. it must not be meant to be.” Do you delay it; shelf it for later?

Do you get angry? Or do you continue? Do you press in?

“The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.” Joseph Campbell
“You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.” Robin Williams
“Do not wait to strike till the iron is hot; but make it hot by striking.” William Butler Yeats

I visited a friend’s gym yesterday. And he reminded me of something very valuable to life (not just athletics!) .. our own resilience will take us very far. Maybe you don’t want to compete athletically .. but do you want to be the best that you can be? Do you want to live to the limits of your potential? I will tell you, life can be less comfortable at times, y’all, but it is also much more rewarding!

Life will be difficult REGARDLESS. Get a reward from it! Be resilient! Don’t just do enough to “get by,” or “get through it!” Do more!

How uncomfortable is it to NOT be where you want to be? The pain of getting there will be much more rewarding than the pain of not pursuing it 120%!

In the example of being athletic, are you pushing yourself 120% in your workouts? Are you really giving all that you can? Every workout, every training session is a chance for you to stretch and grow and further extend your limits. Mental toughness will help you to break through walls that you have in your mind about who you are and what you’re going to be.

Why not live to your potential? Why not give it 120% EVERY workout, or EVERY day at work? Are you afraid of burning out? I assure you, if you rest your head on your pillow at night KNOWING you gave your all, and remind yourself of that feeling when you wake up the next morning (see, Motivation Multivitamin), then you will find more energy, and more drive, and more passion that you have ever found before. It will surprise you; I guarantee it! It’s Newton’s First Law of Motion, “An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.”

Can I give a secret? YOU control the “unbalanced force” in your life when you DECIDE to act, not based on emotions, not how you feel, but on what you want and what you know to be true about where you are going .. towards your goals!

Give it 120% today!
