Aubrey Eicher - Control

“If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; may your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” Samuel Adams

I wanted to open this message with that quote has been on my calendar for about a year now. How true it rings to my belief system. I am not perfect, nor will I try to convince ANYONE that I have it all figured out, but I am a seeker.

I am a seer. I seek a lot out. It is a blessing and can be a curse, it seems, sometimes. I see things that others don’t at the time.

Some call it prophesying. And others get weirded out by that term. That’s alright. I’m okay with being weird. I always have been a misfit. I’ve actually grown to enjoy it, today.

So, I come against principalities and powers that think they have control over situations and circumstances and, more often than not, people.

One of the amazing things that we as human beings have, in my opinion, is the power of choice. Personal choice. On the flip side of that, however, I get incredibly angered, with a righteous anger, whenever human beings attempt to control one another. How crazy and how sad that is to see!

I can see this because it is a demon I have had to come up against time and time again in my own life: the spirit of control, or, Jezebel, as many will recognize it as.

Control, manipulation, Jezebel, is a terrible being that no longer has a place in my life.

But, all of my life, I have struggled with being a passive individual, succumbing to the will of others – my parents, my peers, my ex-husband, my lovers.

I’ll be real and I’ll be honest with you. Want to know why? Because not only have I stepped through those experiences, but I have come through them to share them with you in a completely transparent and humble way to help you, or help others to walk through their lives. It’s why I write this blog.

So. Who are the controllers in your life? Do you fear man, other people, more than God? Why? If God is sovereign over all, why do we do things to please others versus to please God?

Now don’t get me wrong here – I am NOT in a religious sense trying to say that we should appeal to God to get things that we want or to gain favor in our life. I serve God first out of love and desire to because of all that I have seen Him do for me in my life, unmerited. Undeserved. He requires nothing. He just wants to love us and He wants us to know Him.

Today’s Dare: Ask yourself, seek out areas where you have given your power of choice away. Where have you fell subject to the SHOULDS of life? Why? Who are you appealing to? Who really is in control of your life and your thoughts and your actions? I challenge you to seek out answers to these questions today.

Your life is your life! God has great plans for you, plans WAY better than any man has for you!

love you!

PS – a good song correlating to this that you can reference is: “Run Wild” by King and Country featuring Andy Mineo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lky7U8ygU78)
