True Wealth

Alright, part two. Thanks for sticking with me. 🙂 I promise you’ll love the reward!

So I was spring cleaning the other day and came across an old notebook of mine. I’ve read a lot of books .. and continue to, and one in particular is by Napoleon Hill, The Master Key to Riches. Within the book, he details out 12 riches of life. Here they are for you:

  1. A Positive Mental Attitude
    • A positive mental attitude (PMA) is the starting point of all riches, whether they be of a material nature or intangible riches.
  2. Sound Physical Health
    • Sound health begins with a “health consciousness” produced by a mind which thinks in terms of health and not of illness.
  3. Harmony in Human Relationships
    • “To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.
  4. Freedom from Fear
    • Fear is a harbinger of evil, and wherever it appears one may find a cause which must be eliminated before he may become rich in a fuller sense:
      1. Poverty
      2. Criticism
      3. Ill health
      4. Loss of love
      5. Loss of liberty
      6. Old age
      7. Death
  5. The Capacity for Faith
    • Faith is the power which transmutes the ordinary energies of thought into their physical equivalent.
  6. The Hope of Achievement
    • The greatest of all forms of happiness comes as the result of hope of achievement of some yet unattained desire.
  7. Willingness to Share One’s Blessing
    • All riches may be embellished and multiplied by the simple process of sharing them where they may serve others.
    • The space one occupies in the hearts of his fellow men is determined precisely by the service he renders through some form of sharing his blessings.
  8. A Labor of Love
    • All labor of love is sanctified because it brings the joy of self-expression to him who performs it.
  9. An Open Mind on all Subjects
    • Tolerance, which is among the higher attributes of culture, is expressed only by the person who holds an open mind on all subjects and at all times.
  10. Self-Discipline
    • He who is master of self may become the master of his own earthly destiny, “the master of his fate, the captain of his soul.”
  11. The Capacity to Understand People
    • 9 basic motives of life:
      1. Love
      2. Sex
      3. Material gain
      4. Self-preservation
      5. Freedom for/of body and mind
      6. Self-expression
      7. Life after death
      8. Anger
      9. Fear
    • The man who would understand others must first understand himself. This is the fundamental of major importance in all leadership which calls for friendly cooperation.
  12. Economic Security
    • Attained by the service one renders
    • The mind must be conditioned for the acceptance of riches
    • There is a vast difference between one’s “needs” and one’s readiness to receive.
    • No useful service shall be rendered by anyone without a just compensation
    • “Do the thing,” said Emerson, “and you shall have the power.”
    • To get, one must first give!

Ponder these things today. Come back to these bullet-points.

“Today has been beautiful. It has provided me with health of body and mind. It has given me food and clothing. It has brought me another day of opportunity to be of service to others. It has given me peace of mind and freedom from fear.”

Life on this earth is not perfect, but it is beautiful ..

I consider myself wealthy in the opportunities given to me, the time that I have, the ability to enjoy the sunshine and a walk in the city, the opportunity and ability to serve others in my current occupation, the future ahead of me, and all the little things that are gifts in the present, like the flowers on the tree in the above pictures, and the friend that took the picture for me. We all have been given great wealth .. we just have to choose to find it, to seek it, to see it, around us and within us ..
