80/20 Rule

The Pareto principle (also known as the 80–20 rule, the law of the vital few, and the principle of factor sparsity) states that, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes.

So basically, you’re telling me, that 80% of my results comes from 20% of my work?

Yep!

This rule, this principle, applies in every area of life — school, business, working out .. EVERY area!

Ok, great! So how do I do more of this 20% work to get more of the results I want?

First, I would sit down and define, analyze, and study what actions you take that give you the success you are desiring, in whatever area of life you are thinking about.

Next, I would ask myself, what are my goals? How can I cater my 20% work to get me the results I want? In my relationship with God, my family, work, body, etc.

Lastly, I would focus to make that 20% what I focus on doing and getting the results I want.

I challenge you to find the time of the day when you are MOST productive. For me, I am most productive very late at night and very early in the morning. So, I redesigned my sleep habits to match my productivity .. and it has been amazing! If you had the opportunity to do something like that, would you? Or is it too crazy? With that most productive window of yours .. maximize it! Schedule everything you need to get done then.

How about those last few tough reps when at the gym, or that last 400m sprint when doing speed work? Are you mailing it in, glad it’s over, or are you getting the full benefit of the 80% work you have already put in and taking that last 20% and getting your 80% gains from it?

Don’t mail it in. Push it!
Push the envelope .. chase your dreams. Efficiently and effectively.
