If you were to ask me, I would tell you that moving is fun. You might not agree. Hear me out.
A little over three months ago, I moved to a temporary place and about 80% of my belongings went into a storage locker. My lovely kitties went to stay with a friend.
I moved a few weeks ago now and we emptied the storage locker. And I realize, after all this time .. that I don’t actually need about 80% of my belongings! I think about this – I have an extra set of pots, pans, silverware .. these would all just sit in storage for an un-predetermined amount of time, not being used .. when someone, anyone else in the world could be using them! Who am I to think that I won’t just get new ones the next time I move?
This goes for the majority of the clothes that I think I will wear again, but haven’t in forever.
I think we all may be holding on to a lot of things we really don’t need. Why not just give it away? What makes us hold onto it? (Unless it’s grandma’s china or the special old school KitchenAid mixer)
Today’s Dare: Go through your wardrobe. Are there items, winter, spring, summer, fall, that you really haven’t worn in a while? Take an honest look at it and give it away! Take the time to do this. Slow down for an intentional amount of time and purge.
One of the cool things about getting rid of the things we don’t need and the things we don’t use is that it makes room for the things we do need or want and will use!
